2 Surprise teens steal forklifts from construction site

Teens face felony theft charge

The following is a press release from the Surprise Police Department:

SURPRISE -- On Monday, January 20, 2009, construction foremen reported two stolen forklifts from the new Surprise City Hall site located on North Civic Center Plaza, Surprise AZ. The forklifts, valued at $15,000.00 a piece, were last seen on Saturday, January 17, 2009. Detectives later located the stolen forklifts in an empty field approximately one half mile from the construction site.

Surveillance footage from the site showed two juveniles riding bicycles onto the site and driving off with the forklifts. Detectives were able to match the photos with two 15 year old High School students, Edward Maxwell and Taylor Willis, of Surprise AZ. Detectives charged Maxwell and Willis, with felony theft. Both teens were released to their parents.
