Police searching for armed robbery suspect in Chandler - Police in Chandler are searching for an armed robbery suspect in the area of Chandler Boulevard and Arizona Avenue.

UPDATE: Police have linked the Tuesday morning robbery to a robbery that occurred on May 24 at 4:30 a.m. at a Circle K on Arizona Avenue. In both robberies the suspect stole cartons of cigarettes, liquor and a store trash can to carry the stolen items.

The suspect linked to both robberies is still outstanding.

The Chandler Police Department is encouraging anyone with information to call 480-782-4130.

ORIGINAL: CHANDLER -- Police in Chandler spent part of the morning searching for an armed robbery suspect in the area of Chandler Boulevard and Arizona Avenue.

According to the Chandler Police Department, a man robbed a Circle K at McQueen Road and Chandler Bouleward at about 6 a.m.

The suspect fled the scene. A short time later, police pulled over what they believed might have been the suspect's vehicle. The suspect then took off on foot.

Officers surrounded part of the Silk Stocking Neighborhood near the convenience store and scoured the area. Not only were K9 units called out, but the Department of Public Safety helicopter also searched the area from the air.

Police called off the active seach after nearly an hour, but patrol cars were still cruising through the area, especially around Chandler High School.

Nobody was hurt in the robbery, but the suspect got away with an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect is described as a black man about 6 feet 1 inch tall with a muscular build. He was wearing dark clothing.
