Goodyear parks soon to be smoke-freePosted: Updated:
GOODYEAR -- All parks in the city of Goodyear will become smoke-free environments beginning July 1.
To learn more about the new nonsmoking policy for Goodyear parks, please attend a public meeting at 6 p.m. on Monday, June 1 at Goodyear City Hall.
By making parks smoke-free, the city will provide people of all ages with healthier, more pleasant environments for recreation and relaxation. The city also expects to see a reduction in litter once cigarette and tobacco use is no longer permitted. This, in turn, is likely to result in a small cost savings, since clean up and sanitation services will also be reduced.
The decision to designate all city parks as smoke-free environments is administrative.
