Federal stimulus money to fund 350 million in highway projects

PHOENIX - Across the state, highways are getting a makeover.

The state board approved the use of federal stimulus money to start dozens of highway projects.

The state is receiving $350 million in stimulus money for highway construction.

41 projects were approved statewide.

The transportation board allocated $130 million to Maricopa County to start five projects.

$46 million will go to Pima County to start eight projects.

The other $175 million will go towards 28 projects in 13 other counties.

Also on the list is the completion of one new lane in each direction on the I-17 south of Anthem and on the I-10 west of Phoenix.
