Woman robbed in Wal-Mart parking lot; 3 suspects arrested

MESA -- Mesa police officers arrested three suspects after a woman was robbed in a Wal-Mart parking lot just after 1 a.m. Wednesday.

According to police, the woman was sitting in her car with the door open in the store's parking lot near Dobson Road and Eighth Street when two male suspects approached the vehicle from behind.

Mesa police Sgt. Ed Wessing said one suspect snatched the woman's cell phone from her hand. The suspect then pointed a handgun at her and demanded money.

Wessing said the second suspect opened the passenger side door and took an undisclosed amount of cash from the center console.

The suspects fled in a red car. Witnesses provided additional descriptions of the suspects and their vehicle.

Wessing said the vehicle was found near Alma School Road and Main Street and three suspects were taken into custody.

The victim's cash and phone were recovered.
