PHOENIX -- A woman died after being hit by a pickup truck while standing near a bus stop Saturday morning.
According to police, an F250 Ford pickup was traveling eastbound on Greenway Road west of 19th Avenue shortly after 8 a.m. Saturday.
Sgt. Tommy Thompson said the truck crossed over the center line and drove up on the sidewalk and hit a 48-year-old woman who was standing next to a bus stop.
A man standing next to the victim was able to get out of the way and avoid injury.
The victim was taken to a hospital where she died of her injuries.
The driver, identified as Marilee Green-Lee, 53, is believed to have been impaired by a substance other than alcohol.
Thompson said Green-Lee was booked Sunday night and charged with manslaughter and drug-related charges.
