Tucson family wants help finding man swept awayPosted: Updated:
TUCSON -- Volunteers are being sought to help search for a man who was swept away by rushing water Saturday after his car got stuck in a rain-swollen Tucson wash.
The request comes from the family of the missing 28-year-old man, Roy Harris. They're asking for people to help them search for his body using binoculars along the banks of the Santa Cruz River this Saturday.
Mary Harris says she spoke with her son less than 10 minutes before a witness watched helplessly as he got stuck in the wash and tried to make it out on foot. Police said he made it a few steps before the current knocked him over and carried him away.
Roy Harris' grandfather, J.J. Bomhold, is offering a $1,000 reward to the person who finds his grandson.
