Deputy accused of abusing 9-yr-old girl
CAMP VERDE - The following is a press release from the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office:
On Thursday, May 21, 2009, at approximately 10:30 AM, the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office received a call advising of a possible child abuse/domestic violence incident involving a Y.C.S.O. deputy assigned to the Bagdad area. Upon initial investigation, it was determined that Deputy Richard Silva had committed an act of assault per domestic violence against his girlfriends' 9 year old daughter. Silva was arrested and has additionally been charged with two counts of Disorderly Conduct per Domestic Violence. At the time of the incident, Deputy Silva was serving a 160 hour suspension without pay for violations of the Departments' Code of Conduct. This investigation is ongoing.
Silva was booked at the Camp Verde Jail and released the following afternoon, May 22, after posting bond. A court date for this matter is pending.
