PHOENIX -- The defense attorney for one of two men convicted of carrying out a series of random nighttime shootings in the Phoenix area says her client did everything he could to right his wrongs and asked jurors to spare him from the death penalty.
Dieteman back in court
Dieteman's sentencing trial begins - The sentencing trial for admitted Serial Shooter Samuel Dieteman began Wednesday morning.
Jurors heard the remarks from attorney Maria Schaffer at the beginning of the penalty phase trial for Samuel Dieteman on Wednesday. He pleaded guilty to two murders in metro Phoenix's Serial Shooter attacks in 2005 and 2006.
Dieteman was the key witness against co-defendant Dale Hausner, who was sentenced to death earlier this year for the random 14-month shooting spree that left six people dead and 19 others injured.
Dieteman is hoping jurors will spare him because he cooperated with investigators.
