Hiker rescued after falling into cactus

SCOTTSDALE -- A man had to be rescued after he fell into a cactus while hiking Tuesday morning.

Scottsdale firefighters were dispatched to help an injured hiker in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve off 128th Street and Via Linda at 9 a.m.

The hiker reportedly fell into a cactus approximately one-fourth mile up the trail, according to Tiffani Nichols with the Scottsdale Fire Department.

Firefighters provided treatment and were bringing him down using the stokes basket and big wheel.
