Suspect allegedly murdered store clerk while trying to steal beer

LAVEEN - Today, the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office is reporting the arrest Alexander Fredericks (DOB 8/20/86) in the murder of convenience store clerk Antoun Hayek (12/45). Fredericks, a Laveen resident, shot and killed the victim during a theft of beer from the Tumbleweed Store (7145 S. 51st Avenue, Laveen, AZ) Saturday night.

In an action that proved to be wise, Sheriff's homicide investigators requested help from the local media to solve this case.Media coverage resulting from the plea yielded Fredericks being positively identified as the suspect.

Given the tragic loss of life over two, thirty packs of beer, the Sheriff's Office warns every citizen that loss of property is not worth the risk or loss of human life.

Suspect Fredericks remains in the county jail facing first-degree murder and burglary charges.


LAVEEN - Maricopa County deputies need your help tracking down two people involved in an overnight murder.

Police say a suspect shot and killed a convenience store clerk while trying to steal beer. It happened overnight near 51st Avenue and Baseline.

The man then reportedly jumped in the passenger seat of a small two-door car.

The vehicle is gold on top with a blue front-quarter panel. If you have any information please contact police.
