Off-duty firefighter saves teen from nearly drowning - A Goodyear teen owes her life to an off-duty Tempe firefighter.
GOODYEAR -- A Goodyear teen owes her life to an off-duty Tempe firefighter.
Police said they were called to a neighborhood pool at 173rd Avenue and Van Buren Street Sunday afternoon.
A 16-year-old girl was unconscious and unresponsive in the water. The off-duty firefighter who lives in the area saw what was happening and ran over.
Rescuers said the firefighter was performing CPR when they got there.
Investigators believe a medical condition might have played a part in the near drowning.
The teen is expected to recover.
