Many schools doing away with substitute teachersPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Substitute teachers may soon become a rare sight at schools in Arizona.
Thanks to the economy, many districts can no longer afford to use them, according to the Arizona Education Association.
When a teacher is sick, students are split up and join other classes.
One Mesa teacher said this is a loss for students.
Not only does this system double class sizes, but students from different classes may not be at the same learning stage.
