Woman's car crushed by truck and SUV on Loop 303

Driver negligence may be a factor

PHOENIX - A serious crash in the West Valley sent 7 people to the hospital Sunday afternoon.

It also closed a section of the Loop 303 for several hours. Crews spent about an hour towing away the three vehicles involved in the crash.

One woman was critically injured after her blue car was crushed between a truck and an SUV. The woman, who is in her mid-20s, was flown to St Josephs Hospital.

Department of Public Safety officers blame the drivers of the truck and SUV. They say both larger vehicles rolled through stop signs on Camelback to cross the 303 and both ended up hitting the blue car.

Sgt. Tim Mason, from DPS, says, "You hear California roll, you hear slow roll. The reality is these individuals did not yield to a vehicle coming through the intersection. A little bit of driver negligence has led to serious injuries."

Six other people in the crash were also taken to the hospital with less serious injuries.
