TONOPAH -- A mother and two of her three kids have been air-lifted to the hospital after the mother apparently fell asleep at the wheel and rolled her car. The third child was transported by ground ambulance.

It happened just before 5:00 Friday morning at 339th Avenue and Indian School Road outside Tonopah.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee had rolled several times before coming to rest on an embankment.

According to medical personnel on the scene, the mother suffered serious head and facial injuries and was in critical condition when she was air-lifted to St. Joseph's Hospital.

The children, ages 6, 7 and 8, were also taken to St. Joseph's Hospital, two of them by air. The nature of their injuries was not immediately available.

Maricopa County sheriff's deputies said one of the kids told them the mother dozed off at the wheel and lost control of the vehicle.

According to MCSO, the mother and all three kids were wearing their seat belts.
