Local cable co. accused of fraudulently transmitting DirecTVPosted: Updated:
MESA - A local cable television company and several individuals are accused of fraudulently redistributing programming to thousands of customers.
A lawsuit has been filed by DirecTV against Eagle West Communications, based in Mesa. DirecTV claims in the lawsuit that the defendants set up about as many as a dozen Satellite Master Antenna Television (SMAT) accounts and re-sold programming through Eagle West and Indevideo cable systems.
The Federal Bureau of Investigations raided both of these cable providers and say they seized records and transmission equipment that may be related to this case.
Due to the FBI raids at Eagle West and Indevideo, customers who subscribed to their cable programming have lost their signals and their cable television service.
These customers are now being told to take their business elsewhere because the investigation into the alleged fraudulent cable transmission is expected to be lengthy.
