PHOENIX - One person is dead after a collision at Cactus and Scottsdale Roads.

Around 6 a.m., a maroon Saturn failed to stop behind a white Ford at a red light, forcing the Ford into the intersection.

A woman in the backseat of the Saturn passed away later due to injuries suffered in the wreck.

The driver of the Ford refused medical treatment.

The driver of the Saturn and two of her three passengers were transported to hospitals.

One passenger of the Saturn ran from the scene and Scottsdale Police took him into custody in the backyard of a home on East Paradise Lane.

The driver and the front seat passenger are in stable condition.

Police believe alcohol may have been a factor.

The intersection of Cactus and Scottsdale was closed for hours after the wreck, and has now reopened.
