Armed suspect robs Game Stop in Mesa

MESA -- Mesa police officers are searching for a suspect who robbed a Game Stop near Stapley Drive and Baseline Road Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, a male suspect approached the counter, pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded money.

Detective Michael Melendez said the suspect reached over the counter and removed the entire cash register drawer.

While removing the drawer, one .22-caliber round was fired.

Melendez said the suspect fled the store and was seen leaving in a four-door, white Chevy Malibu or Impala. There were two other people in the vehicle.

The suspect is described as a white male, early to mid-20s, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall and 180 to 200 pounds. He has medium-length blond hair and multiple cuts on his nose.

He was last seen wearing shorts, a light-colored shirt with a logo on the front, and a baseball cap that was dark in the back and light in the front.
