Victim stabbed in face with broken bottle by drunken manPosted: Updated:
FLAGSTAFF - Police in Flagstaff are investigating an aggravated assault.
The alleged incident took place just after 1 a.m. on Tuesday on S. San Francisco St. Police say an officer stopped a man, identified as 22-year-old Jalynd Rench who also goes by the name Jalynd Hiatt, who was running from a bar and was being chased by other men. During questioning, the officer discovered Hiatt had fresh blood on his clothing and hands.
It was determined by police that the men chasing Hiatt had reportedly witnessed him stab another patron in the face with a broken bottle. The witnesses also told police Hiatt had been denied access to a bar because he was too drunk.
The stabbing victim was allegedly assaulted when he exited the bar and was taken by ambulance to a hospital to treat his cuts.
Rench faces aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and disorderly conduct charges.
