Road closure puts damper on restaurants expecting NBA crowdPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX - Thousands of basketball fans flooded downtown for the NBA All-Star weekend.
Nevertheless, some restaurant owners are complaining that the event is not bouncing business their way.
The restaurant and bar Cooperstown hired extra security and even flew in a Los Angeles DJ for the weekend but a road closure has kept the NBA fans from venturing to the south side of the stadium.
Jeff Myers, from Cooperstown, tells 3TV, "That's my bread and butter that door right there. Not having access to that door is hurting our business tremendously."
He adds, "We were never informed that this was going to be blocked in to this extent."
Cooperstown put up a few signs hoping to draw some attention but tells 3TV the city fined the restaurant for unauthorized advertising.
