Cardinals agrees to terms with running back WrightPosted: Updated:
TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) -- The Arizona Cardinals have agreed to terms on a two-year contract with free agent running back Jason Wright.
The 5-foot-10, 215-pound Wright spent the last four seasons with the Cleveland Browns, primarily as a third-down back. He gained 85 yards in 23 carries last season and caught 22 passes for 156 yards.
Wright was an undrafted free agent out of Northwestern.
He initially signed with San Francisco in 2004 but was released following training camp. He played in two games with the Atlanta Falcons before signing with the Browns in 2005.
Wright has 159 carries for 588 yards in his career, along with 55 receptions for 486 yards and one touchdown.
His signing helps fill the void left by the departure of J.J. Arrington to Denver.
The Cardinals have two other backs under contract -- Tim Hightower and Edgerrin James.
Terms of Wright's contract were not disclosed.
