Voters reject Ariz. health coverage initiativePosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Voters have rejected a ballot initiative that would have amended the state constitution to prohibit laws that restrict a person's freedom to choose private health care plans or to decline coverage in any particular health care system or plan.
Ballots from last week's elections are still being counted but supporters of Proposition 101 conceded the loss in a statement yesterday, saying it was becoming apparent the initiative will lose.
Supporters had said that some proposals to expand health care coverage could restrict consumers' right to pick care systems and providers.
Opponents said it would restrict the state's options for increasing health care availability.
