Man charged for allegedly soliciting sex with 6-year-old girlPosted: Updated:
SCOTTSDALE -- A Scottsdale man has been indicted for allegedly approaching a woman to have sex with her 6-year-old daughter.
According to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office, Barry Jordan, 44, is alleged to have contacted the child's mother via cell phone, e-mail and text message in order to solicit sex with the girl last July.
On July 8, police say Jordan agreed to meet with the girl's mother when she told him she would bring her daughter. Jordan is alleged to have offered money for each time he would meet with the girl -- $400 initially and $100 cash later.
When Jordan arrived at the meeting place, he was arrested by police.
Jordan faces a felony charge of attempted child prostitution.
"The allegations in this case speak to a larger social problem, which is adults who view children as objects of sexual conquest," Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas said. "Arizona has tough laws to protect children from this behavior, and I for one intend to enforce these laws vigorously."
