PHOENIX -- A collision between two semi-trucks closed U.S. 93 northwest of Wickenburg Wednesday, forcing motorists to make lengthy detours.

Arizona Department of Public Safety spokesman Harold Sanders said both drivers were injured, one seriously, in the accident.

It occurred just before 9 a.m. near milepost 165, about 10 miles south of the junction with State Route 97.

Sanders said the Arizona Department of Transportation partially reopened the highway about 10:45 a.m. by alternating traffic through the accident scene.

U.S. 93 is the main route used by motorists traveling between the Phoenix and Kingman areas.
