Investigators say the man was taken Tuesday night around 8 p.m. near 29th Avenue and Roosevelt Street after five armed Hispanic men surrounded him.

"The victim was also accompanied with a second male that was holding a child," according to Officer Luis Samudio with the Phoenix Police Department. "The second male, we believe, wasn't taken because he was holding a small child. Throughout the night the victim's family continued to receive ransom phone calls, wanting some cash in return of the victim."

The second male recognized one of the suspects and led police to a house near 28th Avenue and Taylor Street, but police did not find the victim there Wednesday morning.

Police have one suspect in custody.

The victim's name has not been released.
