MESA -- Mesa detectives arrested a suspect for a series of thefts at gyms around Arizona.
Late Wednesday morning, Mesa detectives arrested Owen Hardy, 49, on 12 charges related to burglary, forgery and theft.
Hardy was investigated for a series of burglaries from lockers and locker room at gyms around the state.
According to the Mesa Police Department, Hardy would travel to various gyms and make an excuse, such as forgetting something in the locker room, to gain access without being questioned.
Once inside, he would break into the locker and steal credit cards. He would then use the credit cards to purchase electronic items at Valley stores. The electronics were then sold on the street for cash or drugs.
During questioning after his arrest, Hardy admitted that he had a drug addiction and also used the money to pay his gambling debt.
