16-Yr-old driver shot by cops during attempted burglary

PHOENIX - Police were forced to shoot a teenager when he tried to run them over.

The incident happened Saturday night near 48th Street and University. Police say three men were in a stolen car and drove towards two officers, prompting the officers to open fire.

The driver, Timothy Morales, 16, was shot and taken to the hospital in critical condition. The two other suspects, Robert Morales, 48, and Josh Romero, 16, are behind bars facing charges of burglary, possession of burglary tools and attempted theft.

Timothy Morales also had an outstanding felony warrant for an arrest for Auto Theft.

Robert Morales is the father of Timothy and the stepfather of Romero.
