Suspect pushes pregnant wife from car, leads police on chasePosted: Updated:
GOODYEAR - A suspect lead Goodyear Police on a car chase after being pulled over for a traffic violation.
The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office is assisting Goodyear Police with the case.
According to Deputy Lindsey Smith with MCSO the suspect was being detained by police for a traffic violation and during the stop gave the officer some false information.
Seconds after speaking with the officer, the suspect pushed his pregnant wife out of the car and fled.
A pursuit ensued with Goodyear police, along with MCSO assistance.
When the fleeing suspect attempted to avoid stop sticks put out by Goodyear police the vehicle lost control and hit another vehicle in the area of Jackrabbit Road and MC 85.
The occupants of the vehicle hit by the suspect didn't sustain any injuries.
The suspect is in police custody and will be transported to the hospital for minor injuries.
The suspect faces two felonies from Goodyear police and MCSO will charge the suspect with felony flight and causing an accident.
Additional charges could be added in the future.
