Suspect's girlfriend dies after stabbing

PEORIA - A woman has died six days after allegedly being stabbed by her boyfriend.

Police in Peoria report Phyllis Tucker, 48, died as a result of the injuries she sustained in the stabbing.

The victim's boyfriend, Getups "Leroy" Mints, was previously booked on charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault when he was arrested on Feb. 11. He now also faces a new murder charge as a result of Tucker's death.

Officers responded to a home in the 8200 block of West Yucca on Feb. 9 where officers found two victims who had been stabbed. One was Tucker and the other victim was her 69-year-old mother, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
