RAW: Suspect taken into custody

A police motor sergeant was attempting to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicle, according to Capt. Gregory Anderson.

The subjects fled in the vehicle, which was then involved in an accident. The two subjects then ran into a Scottsdale neighborhood.

Scottsdale police officers were called to help search for the suspects in the area of 87th Street and Roanoke Avenue.

One of the suspects was taken into custody in the backyard of a home.

Scottsdale police Officer Dave Pubins said the second suspect is an Hispanic or Native American male wearing a red shirt and red ball cap.

About the same time as the accident, police received a call about a drive-by shooting.

Anderson said the vehicle involved in the shooting appears to be similar to the one involved in the accident.

The investigation is ongoing.
