Kidd dishes Mavs past Suns in crucial West matchup

Posted: Updated:

DALLAS -- The Phoenix Suns might as well get started on their off-season plans. Jason Kidd made sure of it.

Kidd had 19 points, a season-high 20 assists and a major career milestone -- all in just three quarters -- sending Dallas to a 140-116 victory over Phoenix on Sunday.

The win virtually assures the Mavericks of grabbing no worse than the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Dallas owns a four-game lead for the final berth in the Western Conference with five games left. The next win by Dallas or loss by Phoenix would eliminate the Suns from playoff contention.
