UA student shoots and kills 2 men who broke into his homePosted: Updated:
TUCSON -- Tucson police say a University of Arizona student has fatally shot two men who forced their way into his home early Thursday.
Police spokesman Sgt. Fabian Pacheco says the 23-year-old student told detectives he was in his home several blocks north of the university about 12:30 a.m. when two men in their 20s he didn't know forced their way in. The student shot them both and then called police.
Pacheco says there is nothing to indicate the student was involved in any criminal activity that could have made him a target. It's possible the suspects went to the wrong home or were looking for someone who no longer lived in the home. The student had only lived there for a few months.
The student is cooperating with police. No names have been released.
