Motorcyclist killed in collision with pickup truck in Gilbert

GILBERT -- The following is a press release by Gilbert Police:

On 07/22/2008, at approx 1326 hours, a M/C versus pickup truck collision occurred at the intersection of Gilbert and Ivanhoe (south of Gilbert/Ray).

A 21 year old Gilbert resident was traveling S/B on Gilbert Road, from Ray, when a 2007 Chevy pickup truck driven by Edith Holiday (49) of Gilbert, entered the roadway from Ivanhoe attempting to turn left to N/B Gilbert Road.

The 21 year old was wearing a motorcycle helmet. There was no indication that speed or alcohol was a factor in this collision.

Southbound Gilbert Road is expected to have all lane restrictions removed by 1745 hours. Gilbert Police Department's Collision Reconstruction Team completed the on - scene investigation.

The motorcycle operator's identity is being withheld until such time as family notifications have been completed.
