2 Suspects steal jewelry, cash from Sun Lakes woman

The following is a press release from the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office:

DATE: August 01, 2008 CRIME: Theft/Fraud Schemes LOCATION: Began at Chandler Blvd and 56th St. and ended at a residence in Sun Lakes, AZ

SUSPECT: Two unknown Hispanic or Arabic men

#1- 20 to 30 years of age; 5'7; 140 lbs; Bro/Bro; short hair; wearing baggie blue jeans and light blue shirt

#2- 40 to 60 years of age; 5'10; 180-190 lbs; Bro/Bro; unshaven; wearing dark blue jeans and a dark shirt

SUSPECT VEHICLE: Late modeled Tan colored GMC or Chevy Tahoe; 4 door with dark tint, 22 inch custom rims and low profile tires; immaculate condition

SUMMARY: On July 30, 2008 at about 2:00 pm, the described suspects flagged down the 64-year-old victim and advised her that smoke was coming from the trunk of her car. After allegedly putting the fire out the suspects told her they were mechanics and could fix the problem for the sum of $2100.00. These two suspects convinced the victim to ride in their SUV and stop at the bank to withdraw the money to pay them for services they would then provide at her Sun Lakes residence. When the victim arrived at her home with the two suspects, one of them faked a diabetic episode while the other suspect stole $1100.00 in jewelry and the $2100.00 in cash.
