Arrest made in Peoria teen's fatal stabbing after a yearPosted: Updated:
PEORIA - A new DNA process has helped solve a year-old Valley murder.
Police arrested 19-year old Manuel Morado on Wednesday in the stabbing death of a Peoria teen.
Authorities say Morado stabbed 17-year old Ronald Frage to death in January of 2008 but the suspect took off. Police now say they had no witnesses to help track him down.
Peoria police had to turn to an enhanced DNA process at the Department of Public Safety crime lab.
It is one of only two crime labs in the country to use the process. The other location is in New York. It helped develop a suspect and led to Morado's arrest.
Police say he admitted to his involvement in the stabbing.
