AZ report gives mixed grades to CPS on complaintsPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Arizona Child Protective Services is getting a mixed review on how it handles complaints about the program to protect children from abuse and neglect.
A report released Tuesday by the Auditor General's Office says CPS ensures that the public has easy access to the program's complaint process. And it says CPS generally responds thoroughly in written response to people who made complaints.
But the report also says CPS should take steps that include tracking complaints, spelling out complaint-handling requirements for employees and defining what the word "complaint" means.
CPS is part of the Department of Economic Security, and DES Director Tracy Wareing says the agency is implementing the recommendations.
