Toddler flown to Mesa hospital after being found in pool

MESA - According to the Mesa Fire Department a father found his two-and-a-half year old son in the pool Saturday morning.

Police, fire and paramedics responded to the house in a neighborhood near Sossaman Road and Guadalupe Road.

The father called 911 around 9 a.m. and told them he thought the boy was under for about 5 to 10 minutes.

The dad is CPR certified and began CPR while paramedics were on their way.

Dave Johnson with the Mesa Fire Department said the child did not have a pulse when a medical helicopter arrived, but in flight to the hospital medics were able to get a pulse.

The boy was flown to Banner Desert Hospital in Mesa in very critical condition.

The pool did have a fence around it, but no word on how the child might have gotten into the pool. An investigation into the incident continues.
