Sen. McCain speaks at American Legion National Convention

PHOENIX -- Some big-name politicians, including presumptive Republican nominee for president Sen. John McCain, will be at the Phoenix Convention Center Tuesday.

McCain spoke at the American Legion National Convention Tuesday morning. The theme of McCain's speech was take care of the veterans -- past, present and future.

He also defended his support of the war in Iraq.

Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon was scheduled to speak Tuesday afternoon.

The veterans will also see video recordings from Gov. Janet Napolitano and presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama.

Vice President Dick Cheney will be at the convention live on Wednesday.

There are nearly 3 million Legionnaires, making the American Legion the largest group of veterans in the world.
