US Airways jet lands at Sky Harbor with flat nose gear

PHOENIX -- According to US airways spokesperson Morgan Durrant a US Airways plane landed safely at Sky Harbor Airport after declaring an emergency because of a landing gear problem.

The plane is a US Airways express plane operated by Mesa Air. Flight 2722 was enroute to Phoenix from Colorado Springs.

Officials got an indication that there was a problem with one of the front tires on the landing gear. Phoenix fire officials followed the plane after landing where they checked out the tire.

The plane then taxied to the terminal where the plane passengers will get off the flight.

The plane is a CRJ200 that can carry up to 50 passengers. US Airways authorities did not know how many passengers were on this flight.
