Suspects sought in death of former Carl Hayden basketball star

PHOENIX - Phoenix police are investigating a home invasion and a fatal shooting all in one Valley apartment late Thursday night.

According to family members a former Carl Hayden basketball star is dead after he was shot to death inside an apartment complex near 30th Street and Indian School Road.

Damion Gosa, 35, was inside his apartment at about 10:30 p.m. when someone kicked in the back door and demanded money. The suspect shot and killed the victim.

Also inside the James Town Apartment was the victim's girlfriend and her children.

Family members say the suspect demanded money from the girlfriend and then took off.

The girlfriend tried to perform CPR, but it was too late and the man died on scene.

Police are searching for two black men, 25 to 30 years old and 6 feet tall. One was wearing a do-rag and a black-and-white horizontally striped shirt. The other was wearing dark clothing.

They may be driving a white Ford Expedition or Explorer.
