PHOENIX -- A Valley woman is lucky to be alive after being hit by a car early Monday morning.
It happened at 19th Avenue and Indian School Road at about 2:30 a.m.
Police said the woman stepped into the street in front of a car. The impact sent her flying 80 feet.
Investigators said that while the woman was in the crosswalk, she was crossing while the "don't walk" signal was lit.
She was not seriously hurt.
Because she was crossing against the signal, she could be held responsible for the wreck.
