YUMA - U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Yuma Station apprehend one vehicle and seize $56,000.00 worth of marijuana.
On April 15th, a white 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab drove up to the primary inspection lane of the Highway 95 Border Patrol checkpoint. During the inspection, a U.S. Border Patrol K-9 alerted to the possible presence of contraband in the vehicle which was then referred for further inspection.
During the ensuing search agents found 26 packages of marijuana in one of the vehicle's spare tire. 40 more packages of marijuana were found concealed within the doors of the vehicle, and an unloaded Colt 32 caliber handgun was found under the carpet beneath the vehicle backseats.
A total of 66 packages of marijuana were seized weighing 69.65 pounds with an estimated street value of $56,000.00. The driver, passenger, marijuana and firearm were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
