Squatter arrested for damaging vacant home in Surprise

The following is a press release from the Surprise Police Department:

Surprise -- On Saturday, January 17, 2009, police responded to a report of criminal damage at a vacant home located at 15054 West Rockrose Way Surprise AZ. The damage was found by the homeowner and his realtor during an inspection of the home. A window to the home had been broken into, holes were made in the walls and shelving had been ripped out. The homeowner estimated the damage to the home to be in the thousands of dollars. Police found personal items and identification belonging to Regan Harless, age 18 of Surprise AZ in the home.

Police located Harless after a brief investigation. Regan Harless admitted to being in the home unlawfully and was placed under arrest for burglary (a class three felony.) Harless was booked into the Maricopa County Jail.
