Two arrested for transporting 133 pounds marijuana

BENSON - The following was a press release from the Department of Public Safety:

On March 12, 2009, at about 10:45 a.m. an officer with the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) stopped a black 1995 SUV for a windshield violation on Interstate 10, westbound, six miles east of Benson.As the officer walked up to the vehicle, he could smell the odor of marijuana coming from within the vehicle.His DPS canine, Becky, assisted him with the stop.

A search of the vehicle revealed 133 pounds of marijuana. Venissa Encinas, 36, of Willcox, and Lucedas Biez, 32, of Mexico, an undocumented immigrant, were arrested and booked in the Sierra Vista Jail for possession/ transportation for marijuana.
