BUCKEYE -- According to the Department of Public Safety, two people were injured when a pickup truck crashed through a guardrail near Interstate 10 and Jackrabbit Trail and fell to the ground below on Thursday afternoon.

DPS spokesman Officer Robert Bailey said the truck was traveling eastbound on I-10 when the driver lost control, went through the guardrail, plunged 30 feet onto Jackrabbit Trail and fell into the dry canal beside it.
According to DPS, a blow-out might have caused the driver to lose control.
The driver, whose name has not been released, was ejected from the truck.
The driver was airlifted to a hospital in very serious condition and a female passenger was transported by ground with non-life-threatening injuries.
The guardrail was damaged.
Jackrabbit Trail was closed in both directions but was expected to reopen shortly after 4 p.m.
