QUEEN CREEK - Sheriff's deputies were called out to investigate the discovery of a pipe bomb near Ocotillo and Schnepf roads in Queen Creek Monday morning.
The man who first called 911 told 3TV he was out dove hunting when he found an 8-inch piece of galvanized pipe with caps on the ends and a fuse sticking out. He said he found it on the northeast corner of Alamo and Reynoso in the Laredo subdivision, about 3/4 of mile from any homes.
The Pinal County Sheriff's Office was on the scene, and the bomb squad from Mesa was called out.
According to the public information officer for PCSO, they blew the caps off the ends of the pipe and found explosives inside.
No injuries were reported.
