Owings dominates as Reds beat Diamondbacks 3-1Posted: Updated:
PHOENIX (AP) -- Brandon Phillips homered and drove in two runs, and Micah Owings dominated his former teammates as the Cincinnati Reds defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 3-1 on Tuesday night.
Owings (3-3) was traded by the Diamondbacks last September. He went seven sharp innings and allowed one run and a season-low four hits. He walked two and struck out four.
Francisco Cordero pitched the ninth for his 10th save in as many chances.
Arizona fell to 1-4 under manager A.J. Hinch, who replaced Bob Melvin last week. The Diamondbacks are 9-14 at home and have dropped eight of 12 series this season.
The Reds reached Dan Haren (3-4) for two runs in the fourth. He went seven innings and allowed three runs and six hits.
