Prescott Valley man arrested for stalking police officers

The following is a press release from the Prescott Valley Police Department:

PRESCOTT VALLEY -- Prescott Valley Resident arrested for stalking PVPD personnel.

On 01-28-09 The Prescott Valley Police arrested 37 year old Daniel Moffatt, of Prescott Valley, for stalking Prescott Valley Police personnel. The department was investigating numerous incidents that occurred between August of 2006 and January of 2009.

Moffatt was found to have followed Police Officers around and periodically showed up on official calls they were handling. He was found also to have conducted surveillance of Officers on calls for service as well as the Police Operations Building.

Recently Daniel Moffatt was in front of a PVPD Officer's personal residence.

Daniel Moffatt made comments eluding to the purchase of a weapon and having intentions to take out individuals or make them disappear. These statements were made during an interview where Police officials were mentioned. Moffatt went on to mention a specific Officer by name.

Given the overall course of conduct by Moffatt it was apparent that there was reasonable information available to believe that PVPD personnel were fearful for their safety and the safety of their families'.

Arrest and search warrants were drafted for Moffatt's arrest and search of his residence in the 5500 block of Poke drive in The Town of Prescott Valley.

On 01-28-09 at approximately 2:40 P.M. The Prescott Valley Police Special Response Team was able to execute the arrest warrant and arrested Moffatt without incident.

PVPD Criminal Investigation Personnel executed the search warrant on his residence. They located a firearm consistent with statements gathered in the investigation. Investigator additionally located a useable amount of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Daniel Moffatt was booked at the Yavapai County Jail for three counts of stalking, possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

32 year old Stephanie Moffatt, who resides with Daniel Moffatt, was arrested and booked at the Yavapai County Jail for possession of drug paraphernalia.
