SUV vs. truck propels pickup into light-rail pole

PHOENIX -- An SUV rear-ended a pickup truck, sending it careening into an electrical pole at Camelback Road and 15th Avenue Friday afternoon.

According to witnesses, the SUV drove through a red light and rear-ended the truck, which then hit an electrical pole on the light-rail line.

According to Capt. Alex Rangel with the Phoenix Fire Department, the SUV reportedly hit a curb, blowing out a tire, which caused the vehicle to roll over.

The SUV driver was a 49-year-old woman.

One adult and three kids were in the pickup truck. According to the Phoenix Fire Department, the children were not wearing seatbelts.

Five people were injured.

One of the children was transported to Phoenix Children's Hospital in serious condition.
