Man whacked on head with own bike during confrontationPosted: Updated:
The following information was provided by the Tempe Police Dept.:
TEMPE - On November 24, 2008 at 8:11 pm, Richard Allen Gladle was placed under arrest on suspicion of aggravated assault in the 4900 block of S. Wendler Dr, Tempe after a follow-up investigation.
The assault occurred on October 18, 2008 in the area of Rural Rd and Geneva Dr, Tempe.
During the incident the victim was riding his bicycle on Rural Rd when Gladle (who was driving a truck) made overt attempts to strike the victim on his bicycle. Gladle made several u-turns around the victim trying to hit him. The victim made his way onto the sidewalk in an attempt to get away from Gladle.
Gladle than stopped his truck, exited, and went after the victim.
Gladle than picked up the victim's bicycle and brought it down on his head. The victim sustained minor injuries in the assault.
Gladle was later contacted by Tempe Police and was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault (a class three felony). Gladle was transported to Tempe City Jail where he was booked and held.
